2020 Read-a-Thon Fundraiser

Dear Waverly Families,

We are excited to announce the 2020 Waverly PTA Read-a-Thon Fundraiser. This fundraising event for our school will help raise funds while encouraging our children’s love for reading. The Read-a-Thon allows our children to raise money without having to sell anything. One hundred percent of the money collected will fund Waverly PTA initiatives.

Here’s how it works: on or before Monday, March 9, your child can secure pledges from friends and family. Sponsors can pledge a per-minute amount or a flat donation. All donations are 100% tax-deductible. (Waverly PTA Tax ID: 52-1686461)

Before March 9, your child will set a minimum reading goal. Minutes are counted (rather than books), in order to make this fair for readers at every level. For two weeks (March 9-20) your child will read and record their minutes each day using the Minute Recording Sheet.

When the reading period ends, your child will tally up their minutes, collect their pledge money from the sponsors and bring their donations to their homeroom teacher by Friday, March 27.

Everyone who participates and turns in their forms by the due date of March 27 will be eligible to win individual and class prizes. Participants who meet minimum requirements will be entered into a drawing to win a four-pack of Hersheypark Tickets. Forms and money collected after March 27 will be accepted, but not counted towards the individual and class prizes. Students can turn in their forms/money to their homeroom teacher.

Be sure to go over the rules with your children so that they know what kinds of reading minutes count—homework reading counts!

Let’s have fun and READ!
